Managing Adult ADHD

If you often find yourself feeling fatigued after making numerous decisions, you’re not alone. Decision fatigue is a common challenge for individuals with ADHD. However, it is important to note that there are strategies available to effectively manage this issue.

ADHD Skills Management

If you’re an adult managing ADHD, you might often feel misunderstood or overlooked, particularly if the challenges you face aren’t visible to those around you. It’s common for adults with ADHD to experience frustrations in daily tasks, struggles with organization, or difficulties maintaining focus, which might not be apparent to friends, family, or colleagues.

Recognizing the unique challenges of ADHD is an important step towards finding effective strategies to cope. As a psychotherapist specializing in adult ADHD, I provide a supportive environment where you can explore these challenges without judgment. We will work together to understand how ADHD affects your life and develop personalized strategies that enhance your ability to focus, organize, and complete tasks.

Our approach emphasizes that while medication can be helpful, “pills don’t teach skills.” Therefore, our focus will be on ADHD skill training sessions, designed to equip you with practical techniques for improving time management, reducing distractions, and enhancing your relationships. We’ll also explore strategies to manage emotional challenges related to ADHD, such as low self-esteem or frustration.

If you’re ready to improve your management of ADHD and experience a more focused and organized life, I encourage you to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation. Together, we will tailor our approach to your unique needs, empowering you with the tools you need to thrive. My expertise in adult ADHD ensures that you receive comprehensive, understanding, and effective support throughout our journey together.

ADHD Skills Training

Mindfulness may seem straightforward, but many people go through life with a limited perspective, often getting caught up in their thoughts and losing sight of the present moment. Specially modified exercises are designed to accommodate those with busy and disorganized minds, making stillness or “emptying the mind” unnecessary. While medication is often effective for many individuals with ADHD, exploring and developing additional skills that can complement or substitute medication is necessary.

This program could benefit you if you have been struggling with attention, focus, and impulse control, negatively impacting your life. It aims to help you overcome feelings of overwhelm and emotional distress while simultaneously working on executive functions such as organizing, planning, and problem-solving. The ultimate goal is to boost your confidence in various aspects of life, including relationships and work.

Level 2 ADHD Management

When the above-described program does not result in the desired changes, STG La Ronge can assist with a second-level ADHD psychotherapy program. This program is also evidence-based but requires additional sessions to be implemented correctly. In addition, your therapist would need to work with your physician to coordinate medication, emotion, and behaviour management.
