Manage the Winter Months

Are you struggling with the Winter Blues or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and looking for supports to help you through the winter months? At STG Health, we understand the challenges that come with SAD, and we are here to provide you with a safe and nurturing environment to heal and thrive.

Individual Therapy Program

Our therapy program is specifically tailored to address the unique needs of individuals suffering from SAD and Winter Blues. Joining our therapy sessions will allow you to connect with others who share similar experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding.

Our therapy program runs for four sessions (each 60 minutes), allowing ample time for personal growth and transformation. Each session is carefully designed to explore various aspects of SAD, including symptom management, coping strategies, and cultivating resilience. Through the power of shared experiences and professional guidance, you will develop effective tools to navigate the challenges of SAD and build a strong foundation for lasting change.

We also provide valuable information on healthy sleep routines. Sleep plays a crucial role in managing SAD symptoms and overall emotional well-being. Our experienced therapists will guide you in establishing healthy sleep patterns, teaching relaxation techniques, and offering personalized strategies to improve your sleep quality.

Session 1 is an intake to determine suitability of light therapy, as well as to explain how, when, and why to incorporate light therapy. Session 2 focuses on implementation of light therapy and addressing sleep cycles.

Session 3 and 4 are for progress monitoring and problem solving. When needed, a client can book additional sessions for continued skill learning for shifting mood during the winter months.

Combining Best Practice Therapies

At STG, we offer a comprehensive approach to improve your well-being during the winter months. We believe that the best results come from combining light treatment with other therapies (CBT-SAD) and lifestyle changes.

Here's an example to help you understand: Let's say light therapy reduces your symptoms by 40 percent. Adding exercise could increase that to 60 percent, and incorporating cognitive behavior therapy may result in an additional 30 percent improvement, reaching a total of 90 percent symptom reduction. It is possible!

STG Therapists are committed to providing you with the tools and support you need to take control of your well-being. By embracing a holistic approach and making specific changes in your lifestyle, you can manage your symptoms and enjoy a fulfilling life, regardless of the season.

Free Light Therapy Lamp

We are pleased to announce that participants will receive a complimentary light therapy lamp. Light therapy has been proven to be an effective treatment for SAD, mimicking natural sunlight and helping to alleviate symptoms such as low mood, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. This generous offering ensures that everyone has access to the tools they need for healing.

What is the Regular Fee per Session?

NIHB: No cost after approval
MN-SK Citizens: No cost after approval
Private Pay: $175 per session (might be covered by extended health insurance)

Bipolar & Light Therapy?

If you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, you cannot participate in light therapy due to the risks of triggering mood changes. You can though still benefit from the CBT-SAD treatment.
